We’re hiring: senior reporter

2 minutes read

Media startup Brussels Signal is seeking an ambitious, critically-minded reporter with an eye for a story and a hunger to ask the questions of European institutions others won’t.

The role is full-time, and would suit an experienced journalist looking to step up into the major league. Applicants must be able to demonstrate an excellent command of written English, and either already be based in Brussels or be willing to move there. Applicants should have a firm understanding of the European Union, its institutions and operations.

Experience with online content management systems is essential and experience with video would be an asset. This is a rare opportunity to join a new venture on the ground floor and help to shape its coverage. Reporters will work with a small team of experienced editors to produce high-impact coverage of European politics that challenges the status quo.

Responsibilities include:

  • Breaking agenda-setting news stories
  • Writing regular daily news reports
  • Conducting interviews
  • Assisting with uploading content to online formats and social media
  • Maintaining and developing a network of relevant contacts in Brussels and beyond
  • Assisting with other editorial tasks as necessary, including the development of event formats and video or audio production

This is a startup environment working as part of a small, collegiate team. The job would suit highly-motivated self-starters who feel comfortable taking the initiative and learning by doing.

Equal Opportunity

We provide equal employment opportunity to all qualified individuals without regard to race, colour, religion, national origin, gender, age or any other characteristic protected by local laws and regulations.
